Mudita Mindfulness Community

Our Intentions

Mudita is a secular and nonsectarian mindfulness community open to everyone! Our name comes from the word mudita in Pali, which means sympathetic joy -- the joy we feel for the good fortune and happiness of others. This is exactly what we do - we come together once a week to learn and practice mindfulness, and to rejoice in each other's progress.🤗

Our intentions are:
1. learn & practice mindfulness together,
2. share and learn from each other,
3. support each other in our continued mindfulness practices.

Mudita started out in May 2019, and today has 9 members and 10 visiting guests.

Multicultural & Mindful Dialogue Guidelines are taught and reminded at every meeting.

Our Book Club

As a community, we gather to read mindfulness/wellness books together. These reading afternoons are calm, relaxed and joyful. There's no pressure to read anything before you come to the meeting. We read out loud to each other, enjoying the book and each other's presence. We pause often for small 2 minute meditations, as well as discussions of what we noticed and took away from the reading. The books we have read / are reading currently are below.

Please RSVP to join one of our meetings.

Previous Guest Teachers

Our community occasionally welcomes guest teachers.

On Wednesday May 20th, our community welcomed my much trusted and cherished colleague & friend, mindfulness teacher Jennifer Krag. Jen gave us a short talk and guiding a meditation on Respecting Our Nervous System. Jen (pronouns: she/her) is studying under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach in the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, class of 2021, and has a special interest in trauma-informed mindfulness. She has also been teaching yoga for 11 years. She lives in northern Ontario, Canada, with her family.

On Wednesday Aug 14th, our community welcomed Sasha Nelson as a guest teacher! Sasha is a fellow mindfulness teacher from our mindfulness teacher training with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. Aside from being a mindfulness teacher, she is a vinyasa yoga teacher, a wellness consultant and writer, a dancer, and a food and sustainability enthusiast. Sasha talked to us about and led a meditation on sustainability of mind, body & planet -- how to integrate simple yet profound mindfulness practices into every day life.
